BS Islamic Studies

INTRODUCTION:

The Department of Islamic Studies was established at GC Balakot with the advent of BS system in this college in 2017. Prof. Mufti Mohammad Faisal is the pioneer HOD of Islamic Studies Department. He voluntarily came forward, took bold steps, played a leading role and got BS Islamic Studies Department initiated. The theme behind this vision was to produce  learned and moderate religious scholars for society who have grip on the subject, excellence in academics and integrity, mature understanding of the contemporary issues with a clarity of minds and thoughts.  The academic program of BS Islamic Studies offers the students the opportunity to gain comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of Islam in both historical and modern contexts. The contents taught during 8 semesters of BS 4 year program of  Islamic Studies at GC Balakot  comprise a diverse set of courses to familiarize the students with the main sources of Islam. Through these courses, the students can learn the history of Islam and modern trends in Islamic thought with a further option of comparative religious studies. The faculty of Islamic Studies Department also undertakes teaching of Islamic Studies and Islamic Education(Comp) at Intermediate and BS levels of other BS disciplines.

OBJECTIVES

• To produce competent and confident scholars who are well versed in basic Islamic disciplines and capable of guiding the Muslim Ummah, conversant with today’s issues and able to face the futuristic challenges.

• To Provide in depth knowledge of basic Islamic Sciences like Quran & Hadith ,Fiqah , Islamic History, Islamic thought, Seerah & Dawa.

• To Provide Skills of Islamic Education with an exposure to modern scientific, technological and social development.

• Rectifying controversial ideas and misconceptions about Islam and preparing young talented individuals to present the true picture of Islam before the world

• Highlighting the contribution of Islamic Studies and its impact on human civilization.
