GC Balakot believes in delivering excellence in academics as well as in sports. A sports committee comprising efficient faculty members has been constituted in order to promote sports and polish the latent talents of students in the sector of sports. Kunhar Valley is a fertile land with respect to talents of its inhabitants in all walks of life. Majority of the students of this college belonging to hard and remote areas of this regions are well built, physically fit & take due interest in sports activities. Students of this excelling institution duly participate in different sports competitions in various categories at Board level, University level & Directorate level. Few students of this college are national champions in Tchuk Ball.
Members of sports committee are committed to promote and strengthen the vibrant sports tradition of this college through the provision of quality facilities, services and programs for all students. GC Balakot is recognized as one of the educational institutions which is not only expanding the curve of excellence in academics but also in realm in sports as it has maintained its strong position in Cricket, Volleyball, Tchuk Ball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Football and Badminton. The contribution of GC Balakot in country’s sports is evident from the representation of its playing students in elite sports including Tchuk Ball, Volleyball and Football. One of the alumnus of this excelling institution, Mr. Shahbaz Sarwar who had been soccer player was invited to visit Russia in connection with FIFA World Cup at Moscow in 2018.
Huge stress is rendered by the college administration in leveling and development of college sports ground. Peripheral stair and stage has been constructed after huge excavation work. Mosaic benches are being installed to make seating arrangement for more than 2000 spectators. At the moment special clay is being added and leveled before planting Korean grass in the college ground. Soon after completion of this ground the most famous sports gala name IDPL will be held. Students of Intermediate and Six Disciplines of BS are too much enthusiastic to participate in IDPL for which they have remained indulged in social work activities for development of the sports ground. Every Team among the seven groups will be dressed up in respective color scheme on the basis of VIBGYOR Pattern of Rainbow i.e Intermediate in Violet, Chemistry in Indigo, English in Blue, Islamic Studies in Green, Physics in Yellow, Urdu in Orange & Zoology in Red dress colour.
College sports committee aims to create high-quality sports men who are practically skilled to enter the competitive world. Extensive support is provided to the student players for their bright career in the light of vision statement of this institution i.e “Excellence in Education & Integrity…”.
